Not much to them - had one last year.

Lay on a flat bed (they call it a couch) - you remove all glasses or anything that can interfere with it.

You lay still and the bed moves into the scan area as needed. You don't feel anything. The actual "picture taking" only takes a few minutes. The first picture they take is the "base" picture, the others are relative to that one (this is what they told me anyway) They'll spend more time making minute adjustments between pictures.

There's an intercom system where you can speak to the staff if need be. My images were in real time and I could hear the discussions (was good news) so it was good I didn't have a lot of waiting.

Good luck with it - will keep my fingers crossed for you that its nothing serious.

Thanks ktvvegas, that helps a lot.

That must be weird to hear them discuss your imaging while you are in the machine.

Appreciate your well wishes too, I am feeling optimistic that everything will check out okay. I was really scared after seeing my plain film x-rays, but apparently the doc said that the differences I have could just be normal variation (like a chick with one titty bigger than the other - my words not his)...sure hope so!

Thanks again.

found a hard lump along my skull, was worried that it was brain or bone cancer or something, turns out it is just a little extra bone that has likely been there all along

Thanks man. It helped knowing what was coming with the CT, much appreciated. Freaked me out a bit with the IV (they did it twice, first regular then with the IV for contrast) since I was on that skinny table with no place to rest my arm and was trying to keep still.

Huge relief to get the all clear though, was soooo STRESSED! Had already talked to the wife about cranking out a kid and then moving to South America to party if I had limited time left!
